Kimberly's Weekly Weigh-In Results: June 29, 2009

I weighed in at Weight Watchers this morning. I have lost another 3.4 pounds. Over the past four weeks, I have lost a total of 13.6 pounds. I have a long way to go. But I am determined to reach a healthier goal. Our team leader always make us say this at the end of our meetings each week: "I can, I can, I know I can. I will!" That rings in my head every time I am tempted to eat something I shouldn't. I hope that keeps working during the Fourth of July celebrations! Ha! Ha!

Hunter finished his swimming lessons on June 22, 2009. He can't swim on his own yet. But, he accomplished a lot last week. At least he does not have a fear of the water anymore. He is willing to at least try some things. The one things he could not get past last week was his fear of going under the water. Once he gets over that, he shouldn't have any trouble learning to swim. He did learn to float on his back, walk the wall of the side of the pool to get to a ladder for safety, blow bubbles to keep water from going into his nose and mouth, to use a kickboard, and he learned important safety rules for swimming. He really had a great time and I was proud of what he was able to accomplish. Enjoy the slideshow!

Today was Hunter's first day of swimming lessons. We went to the home of Les and Sandy Parish. Their daughter, Leslie Stockbridge and Barb Jackson teamed up to teach this swimming class. I met Leslie at Chase's Cub Scout Day Camp. Chase and her son Cody became good friends at camp.

I was afraid that he would not even get in the pool without me and that he would be afraid when we arrived. But, he was not a bit afraid. He got into the pool without hesitation and waited for the swimming instructors to tell him what to do. He did everything they asked him to try. I was so proud of him.

Today he learned to lay on his back in the water, kick, paddle, jump into the pool, "walk" the wall of the pool to the ladder, blow bubbles, and some important saftey tips in case he were to ever fall into a pool. He had a great first day!

Hunter loves to ride the scooter!

Hunter loves this old scooter that used to be Chase's when Chase was about Hunter's age. Our drive way is on a little slope. He starts at the top of the slope in the garage and sails down to the end of the drive way. It is cute to watch!

Hunter's Scary Ride thru the Car Wash! Hee! Hee!

I just happened to have my camera in the car with me when Hunter and I decided to drive the car thru the Car Wash out on Hwy 72. He hates going thru there. He thinks if he covers his ears and closes his eyes that everything will be okay. I thought it was cute and snapped a couple of pictures. He never cried, he just coped. I was proud of him for not pitching a fit and for the most part, he was pretty brave.

Chase attended Cub Scout Day Camp June 1-5, 2009 at Point Mallard in Decatur, AL. There were 19 scouts from his Pack from Athens Bible School this year. It was a hot and muggy week for them. For the most part, Chase enjoyed all of the fun activities that were planned and he enjoyed making new friends. The only part he did not like was waiting in the long lines for various activities because there were so many scouts. But, he had to learn a lot about patience that week and it was very good for him. They had a cook-out for the family on Thursday of that week. Hunter and I went to visit Chase that day and Hunter had a ball. I could not take my eyes off of him for a second. The few times that I did look away, when I looked back I found him stealing frisbees, balls, and even a wagon full of scouting equipment! He said that he was taking his "picachu" for a ride. He was a mess. The scouts were supposed to perform skits that day, too. But some storms rolled in and the skits were cancelled. They did however perform their skits on Friday instead. He had fun, but he was very glad when that week was over.

Funny Picture from my Mom

I thought this was too cute not to share! Ha! Ha! My mom sent this picture to me some time ago and I ran across it on my computer today! Of course I don't really wish for anyone else to be fat if I can't be thin. But, I thought this was cute.

A morning at Weight Watchers and then to the park

The boys and I went to my weekly weigh-in at Weight Watchers ths morning. I lost 2.4 pounds last week for a new total of 9 pounds lost. I lost 9 pounds in two weeks! I have a long way to go, but it is really encouraging to see that minus sign on my weight loss journal.

After my weigh-in, the boys and I went to the "duck pond" at Big Springs Park and played with the ducks. Hunter finally got brave enough to go down that huge slide by himself and he even climbed the outer part of the monkey bars all by himself today. I was nervous while he was climbing, but he made it to the top just fine. He had one little slip and my heart raced for a moment. But, he did not fall! I was proud of him for being so brave this time.

Hopefully, next week, he is going to try swimming lessons. Unlike his big brother, who loves to swim and swims like a fish, Hunter is frightened of the swimming pool unless he has a deadlock around your neck. He wants to get in the pool. But when he actually does, he is afraid. I hope he will do as the teachers say and not be too afraid. I am not going to force him to participate. If it does not work, we will just try again later.

Hope to post some new pictures soon!

This Week's Weight Loss Results - June 8, 2009

I just got home from my weekly Weight Watchers meeting. I was so excited to find out that I had lost 6.6 pounds during my first week following my Weight Watcher's Plan. I also exercised 6 days this past week using Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds Video called "Walk Slim - 4 Really Fast Miles". I pray that I can keep up this drive to live healthy and that I won't let my old ways slip back into the picture!

Today was the last day of Cub Scout Day Camp for Chase. This event was held at Point Mallard in Decatur, AL. This week had its ups and downs for Chase. But, overall, he had a great time. The theme of this year's day camp was "CSI - Cub Scout Investigations". He really liked learning more about DNA today. He is very proud of his kite that he made also. He has more confidence in his BB and Archery skills now. In the beginning of the week, he did not do as well as he wanted and others made fun of him. But, he kept at it all week and he said that his skills got better by the end of the week. He was proud of himself for that. He also made a new friend and hopes to keep in touch with him. His new friend is also from Athens and goes to school at Julian Newman. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too hard to keep them in touch with one another. They exchanged phone numbers and addresses.

I will post pictures soon!

I have been doing pretty good sticking to my Points Plan from Weight Watchers. I also exercised on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and today. I am going to keep up the exercise daily if I can. I bought a "Walking" exercise video by Leslie Sansone. With the video, I walk 4 miles in 47 minutes. That is just a little less than 12 minutes per mile! I have never been able to do that on a treadmill. I will weigh in at my Weight Watcher's meeting on Monday, June 8, 2009 and hope to see some good results after my first week as a member. I have really been encouraged by tools on their website and by the other ladies and teachers at the class last week.

I only hope that I can keep this enthusiasm and that it won't fade. In the past, I have always been very motivated, only to later lose focus and go back to my old self-destructive ways of eating unhealthy foods again. I have got to find some way to stay focused on this new lifestyle and realize that if I want to be fit and healthy, that I have got to make better choices for the rest of my life. I also need to remind myself that I need to take care of this body that God gave me.

I found the following article online and it really has helped me. If I start "slipping" into my old habits and want to give up, I am going to read this over and over again. If you have the same problems I do, I hope you enjoy reading a copy of this article below and that it will help you like it has me:

Article - People have always used the Bible for guidance in their life. Your faith can be of great help when you are struggling in life. People who have developed a relationship with God know which Bible scripture to turn to for every problem in their life. In this article I will give you some Bible scriptures that have helped people lose weight.

Read these scriptures to confirm for yourself that God will help you lose the weight through the Bible scriptures.

Phillippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Transforming your old habit into a new and healthier habit is a difficult thing to do without help. Join a group, follow a program and whenever possible share your experiences with others. You can have more success while helping others. These scriptures can help you with that.

Proverbs 3:28 Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

You do not have to do it alone. These scriptures will help you ask for the help you need.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Psalms 16:7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

We have an obligation to God, to ourselves and our loved ones, to take care of our health and our body. And losing weight is one way to do so.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Do not wait, start losing weight today. These scripture will help you to stop procrastinating and ask God for help.

Proverbs 6:9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

Phillippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Throughout your journey to lose weight this scripture will help you to stop eating junk.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

These Bible scriptures combined with your self-discipline and a good weight loss program is a guarantee for success.

I hope you enjoyed the article above! Thanks for visiting with me today!
Sincerely,
Kimberly

This morning Chase set off for Cub Scout Day Camp. He was not excited about getting up so early, but he was excited about getting to spend time with his friends and the possibility of making new friends at camp today.

I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting today and I really hope this is something I can stay focused on. I am so tired of being overweight. I really want to be healthier and I will do really good for a few weeks and then become lazy again and give in to the foods I should not eat. It is almost like being a "food-a-holic" for me. If I see a cookie or a piece of chocolate cake, I can't say "no!" But, I really think Weight Watchers will be the thing for me that will help keep me focused on finding a healthier "me" inside somewhere! Wish me luck!

Have a great day!
Kimberly
